Almonte's Huge Heart

Almonte's Huge HeartAfter an awesome year last year the Almonte Beer Store wanted to step it up again! Shaun Wasylnuk, decided to dye his hair every colour of the rainbow in order to raise money, and then at the end of the weekend have it all shaved off. We set a goal of $7500 to beat our $5000 goal from last year. The plan was to change the colour of his hair every $1000 we raised. Shaun started with blue hair and after many funny looks all over town we were soon well over the thousand dollars. His hair went green next and we couldn’t keep up with the amount of money we were raising and our plan quickly had to be changed! We went from every $1000 raised to every $2000. The town was loving it, and everyone was more then willing to donate money to see what colour Shaun’s hair would be next!

After a week with green hair it changed to pink, then purple hair. For the big finally he went red for Leukemia! May the 4th was a happy day for us here in Almonte as we hit our goal of $7500! We had to keep going and decided to bump it up to $10,000! After over a month of preparations we were ready for the big weekend! Late Saturday afternoon we broke the $10,000 goal!

Sunday night after work Shaun had a BBQ at his house where anyone and everyone was invited to come out to have some food and watch him get his head shaved. Almonte is a little town with a huge heart! Everyone here at the Almonte Beer Store wants to thank everyone who donated, without them we could not have reached over $10,325.00! We also want to thank Shaun for the use of his hair for this fundraiser and allowing us to make him look totally ridiculous.
